Habitats for Humanity
The month of November was exhaustive and challenging but
rewarding at the same time. I continued my volunteering experience with
Habitats for Humanity during this month. I was sent to another construction site
and when I got there, only the base of the house was built which was totally
opposite from my last experience. I was glad that the weather was much cooler
and not sweltering hot like in October. The day I went was the day after my
exam which was nice because I definitely needed a break from hour upon hours of
studying. I was also extremely happy to see one of my classmates there and we
partnered up to complete some projects. This day was very labor intensive as we
nailed in plywood after plywood. However, during this entire time I was getting
to know more about my classmate which helped made the day go faster. In addition,
I also met people who were from Bermuda and they choose to volunteer because they
were just looking to get away from their desk jobs.
Habitats for Humanity is something that I would definitely recommend
to people. This volunteering experience is very labor intense but it’s a chance
to get away from the other healthcare related volunteering experiences. In December,
I will be volunteering for Green Light New Orleans and I am excited about this because
I get a chance to connect with the residents of New Orleans and also help the environment.
